Jane Hammond joined the Gladstone Healthy Harbour Partnership this month as Communications and Community Engagement Officer. Jane brings experience across strategic communications, media, stakeholder engagement and community relations, complimenting the breadth of skills within the GHHP team.
Her career includes work with organisations such as the Breakfast Creek Hotel, the Australian Cane Farmers Association, Gladsone Area Promotion and Development Limited, Gladstone Ports Corporation, SMEC and Surbana Jurong. This experience has given her a practical understanding of how to communicate clearly across community, industry, government and technical audiences.
In recent years, Jane has focused her work in Central Queensland, supporting local and regional organisations. This reflects a commitment to working closely with communities and helping people better understand the projects, industries and environmental systems that shape daily life in our region.
Having lived and worked in Gladstone for many years, Jane understands the harbour as part of a wider, interconnected system.
“Gladstone is a unique place where heavy industry, environment and community sit side by side every day.”
A FEW FUN FACTS ABOUT JANE:
Favourite Harbour Activity: Showing friends and family who come to visit how Gladstone operates and seeing their perceptions change once they experience the region first-hand.
Favourite Sea Creature: Great white shark, an important part of healthy ocean systems and a creature I have much respect for.
Favourite Food: Home-cooked meals using quality seasonal produce, ideally shared with others. Desert is a non-negotiable.
