The Gladstone Healthy Harbour Partnership (GHHP) is delighted to welcome its newest partner, the Gladstone Air Quality Community Group. The Group shares our commitment to environmental stewardship and community well-being.
Their mission is clear: to develop and maintain air quality awareness within the community and to facilitate an understanding of the effects on human and
environmental health.
“Understanding local air quality requires moving beyond anecdotes and collecting the data,” states James Harris, Chair of the Gladstone Air Quality Community Group.
As an independent community group, they aim to educate the local community about the region’s air quality in a manner that people with a non-scientific background can easily understand. From developing educational resources for school students and community fact sheets to organising local citizen science projects and collaborating with relevant organisations (like GHHP) and events, the group strives to make air science fun, friendly and relevant.
Their inclusion in GHHP reinforces our commitment to uniting diverse stakeholders in the shared goal of monitoring the health of our natural resources. We extend a warm welcome to the Gladstone Air Quality Community Group and look forward to working hand in hand to build a happy, healthy Gladstone for generations to come.
